World Cup winner former Indian allrounder cricketer Yuvraj Singh has decided to return from retirement at the request of Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). Yuvraj, who was the 'Player of the Tournament' of the World Cup 2011, announced his retirement from all formats of cricket in June last year.

PCA secretary Punit Bali was the first person who offered to return from retirement after 38 years of crowning for the benefit of Punjab cricket. Yuvraj from Cricbuzz said, 'Initially I was not sure about accepting this offer.'

He said, 'I had stopped playing domestic cricket, although I wanted to continue playing in other domestic franchise leagues around the world if I had permission from the BCCI.'

He said, "But I could not ignore Mr Bali's request." I thought it over for about three to four weeks, and it was almost like I thought there was no need to take a decision in the end. '

Working on the net over the last few months with Punjab's young quartet Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Prabhasimran Singh and Anmolpreet Singh, Yuvraj again felt inspired and loved for the sport.

Bali told PTI that Yuvraj has written to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in this regard.

He said, 'We want him in the team and the way he mentors the young boys is fantastic. I told him to please give at least one more year of his life to Punjab cricket.

Bali said, 'Punjab cricket needs them. As a player and mentor, they still have a lot to offer. I know that he wrote to Dada two weeks ago. The answer must also have come by now.

Yuvraj's mother Shabnam Singh said that she still has a passion for the sport. He said, 'He is coming back from Dubai in two days and then we will have a long discussion about it. What you are hearing will be true. '

On Tuesday, news came that he wanted to play in the Big Bash League and Cricket Australia is trying to find a team for him. According to BCCI rules, only cricketers who retire can play in foreign leagues.

Yuvraj's father Yograj Singh said, "He retired last year after 20 years of competitive cricket and it was his personal decision, in which I did not interfere." But even then I felt that he should not retire. '

He said, "He has always been giving." At such a time, he is training Shubman, Prabhu and Abhishek for five hours every day in the scorching sun. '
